Our Vision Statement

At Springfield Area Music Industry (SAMI), our ambition is to put Springfield on the map for its music scene. To that end, we want to identify avenues and opportunities for growth and exploit those; we want to identify systemic failures and explore means of correcting them, and establish a pool of individuals willing to work to make that happen. SAMI is not only for musicians, but sound engineers, techs, and even venues and club owners; everyone who wants to help us bolster the Springfield music scene is welcome. Our purpose is to come together as a community, support our local music industry, and put as MUCH music out there as possible.

Latest News

Good morning folks! We're getting started on a lil bit of podcast production today! If we can showcase your original music on this and future episodes please let us know in the comments, and tell us where to find it.

Episode 0.5 is going to be a recap of our last year and half in existence, our triumphs, and perhaps more importantly, our failures. We feel taking ownership of our weak spots is an important part of our process. So before we start doing episodes about how to run your band as a business, and how to improve the overall health of the industry, we feel like we need to lay it all on the line for you. So stay tuned for that, and hopefully it'll be available for you within the next couple weeks! Love to you and yours! Happy holidays, and see ya at the next show!

I am searching for a 1 or 2 person group with an acoustic set up who may want to get some free exposure for 2 hours in a downtown business during 1st friday art walk. It's not a paid gig but you will be right in the front window and will get exposure and you can bring something for our patrons to take away with your contact info. And did I mention free snacks and drinks?? Bonus kudos if you are into playing holiday music and wld like to do this friday!😁 ... See MoreSee Less

Got another care package ready to go to our good friends at the @Moral Injury Institute to support our #ptsdandmoralinjuryinitiative! We may have been quiet lately as we all (your Board members) have been working our own grinds in this particular fickle industry, but we absolutely love supporting this program and we know you love it too! Please consider donating on this #givingtuesday to make sure we can keep these guys and gals loaded up with guitars and accessories to facilitate their healing journeys!

Thanks, and love to you all! Happy Thanksgiving, and we'll see you at the next show!

We had such a great time being Guinea pigs for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Springfield Studio over at the Henderson Unit! These kids are really fortunate to have such a great organization looking out for them, and making sure they've got the resources to live their dreams and make great music! Big thanks to Clara Plasse for volunteering for Guinea Pigging, and huge thanks to the stable of "hired" guns I was able to put together on short notice to back her up! Jeremiah Sharples, Roger Kean and Miken Cox, you guys all did so good! Loved this!

ISO a couple of instrumentalist who would like to donate some time on thursday to show some kids at the Boys and Girls Club studio how to build a demo recording. We have a vocalist who has supplied tracks, but if it all possible I'd love to bring in a few more players to really give the kids an in depth experience. Holler if you play guitar, bass or drums and have a couple hours free Thursday night. Thanks in advance!
