Our Vision Statement

At Springfield Area Music Industry (SAMI), our ambition is to put Springfield on the map for its music scene. To that end, we want to identify avenues and opportunities for growth and exploit those; we want to identify systemic failures and explore means of correcting them, and establish a pool of individuals willing to work to make that happen. SAMI is not only for musicians, but sound engineers, techs, and even venues and club owners; everyone who wants to help us bolster the Springfield music scene is welcome. Our purpose is to come together as a community, support our local music industry, and put as MUCH music out there as possible.

Current fund balance as of 06/22: $1,436 with a total of $770 distributed to the community to date.

If you are involved in the music industry in any way(meaning at some point you got paid some amount to participate in music related activities,) and need access to this fund, please let us know. At this point, it's understood that covid has affected the industry in many ways, including ways that aren't easy to prove as they are tangential. So no proof necessary at this point. This fund is here to support our industry as we regroup and figure out how to move forward. Please use it as needed, and consider contributing if possible. Thanks, love ya! Go team! Solidarity!

It's been a while since I've updated, because there has been little to no activity. We'd like to remind everyone though, that these funds are still available to our music industry folks. We in the entertainment industry were some of the first to get hit by this, and we'll likely be some of the last to get back to being actually lucrative. If you need some help, let us know. Musicians, techs, promoters, venue staff, venues, basically anyone even peripherally involved in the music industry can draw on this fund. We have been and will continue to be completely discreet about who we are helping. Please, if you need a bit of relief, let us know. Thanks, and love ya!

We are Springfield Strong! We'll get through this, and come out stronger and better. Solidarity is a concept that means a great deal to me. Springfield After Hours is, in ordinary circumstance a needed and useful service to the Springfield Area Music Industry. They are always working hard to shine a light on all the wonderful music that happens here in the Ozarks every single day, week in and week out. That's actually a really important piece of strategy when it comes to elevating or scene to national status. We had no effective coordinated media apperatus that exists solely to highlight our local music scene until they came along and put in the work to get that ball rolling.
In extraordinary circumstance like the one we find ourselves in, they are vital. Not just because they are shining a light on the music, but because they represent another concept I hold dear: Praxis. Assigning action to theory. They stand in solidarity with us (because they ARE US,) and are taking action to help ensure we have a music economy that not only survives, but thrives when this is all over. Please show them some love. If you can donate and get you one of them sweet shirts, please do so, but if you can't swing it, no worries. Go give em a like and a share. Help us/them beat the algorithms.

Together we are #springfieldstrong and we will come back from this as robust as we've ever been.
