Our Vision Statement

At Springfield Area Music Industry (SAMI), our ambition is to put Springfield on the map for its music scene. To that end, we want to identify avenues and opportunities for growth and exploit those; we want to identify systemic failures and explore means of correcting them, and establish a pool of individuals willing to work to make that happen. SAMI is not only for musicians, but sound engineers, techs, and even venues and club owners; everyone who wants to help us bolster the Springfield music scene is welcome. Our purpose is to come together as a community, support our local music industry, and put as MUCH music out there as possible.

Getting ready to deliver another care package to Moral Injury Institute for our #ptsdandmoralinjuryinitiative, and thinking about how grateful I am to have such a wonderful network of supporters and donors who allow us to support these great programs! Thanks you guys!

With that being said, as the program grows to reach more and more of our vets who are using the healing power of music to work through their traumas, we need more and more instruments and accessories in our pool. Please consider setting aside a few dollars to help support this wonderful program! Love you guys, and see ya at the next show!

Ps. Huge thanks to @Brad Neuberger at Guitar Center Springfield for the super excellent deal they made us on this package! They are huge scene supporters, make sure you stop in and tell em thanks!

Good evening SAMI! I just left a really cool tour of a pretty awesome studio setup at the Boys and Girls Club (these kids are so lucky! ❤️.) They would love to have us bring in some super star musicians to let the kids actually observe the process! How about that? You get a demo recording out of the deal, *PLUS* you get to inspire some youngsters on your process!

So, for the initial session I'd like to line up either a solo or duo act willing to come in in about one month's time and lay down a couple tracks with a live audience of some of the coolest kids around! This should go without saying, but MUST BE KID FRIENDLY SONGS. Shoot us a message if this sounds like something you'd be into!

Hey SAMI! I've got to give a huge shoutout to @Justin Vaughan for stepping on to instruct our group lesson for our PTSD and Moral Injury initiative in partnership with the @moral injury Institute! He's been a great help, and we sincerely appreciate it! Thanks Justin! You rock!

Another great bit of news, is that thanks to the efforts of our original instructor @Roxy Kraber we've been able to secure more instructors through Drury's internship program! So thanks so much Roxy, and good luck and congrats are in order in your new endeavor!

Now, on that note, we just received some more funding for this initiative from an anonymous donor, (thank you so much, you know who you are!) and I'm about to hunt up some deals on a couple more acoustics to add to the pool for that program. With that being said, we could use some donations if you've got them around. We always seem to be short of: cases, strings, tuners and any other accessories you can think of. If you have some handy to contribute please contact us and we'll get them where they need to go. If you'd like to contribute some cash towards that end, please feel free to hit the donate button on this post! Thanks so much! Your continued support means the world to us!

Another gig Alert! This one is a themed concert series called "Concerts and Conversations" taking place on October 24th, and the theme is red flag issues, specifically public safety regarding domestic violence, sex trafficking and all the intersections that lead to those things. If you or your band feels a personal confection to this theme, and would like to lend your voice to the conversation please contact Rachel Johnson at the Springfield Regional Arts Council at rachel@springfieldarts.org, or give her a call @ 417-862-2787.

Thanks for looking, and even if you're not interested in this one, like the post so that you'll continue to see our alerts when they pop up!
